
Maureen is a Biomedical Engineer and Health Innovation leader committed to addressing critical global health challenges in low-resource settings. As Co-Director of Pumzi Devices, she drives the development of engineering solutions that improve Maternal Health and Emergency Medical Services across Sub-Saharan Africa.
She has just completed her PhD in Industrial Engineering, where her work focuses on strengthening local medical device development systems and informing evidence-based policy for Africa’s MedTech Innovation system. Beyond healthcare technology, Maureen is a strong advocate for digital equity in education.
She leads AI-readiness and digital literacy initiatives for educators, designing programmes that demystify emerging technologies and empower teachers to prepare learners for a tech-driven future. Across all her work - whether developing life-saving medical devices or equipping educators with digital skills - Maureen is driven by a single mission: to build local capacity and create sustainable, context-appropriate, technology-enabled solutions for Africa.
